Two years ago the gallery, under its former name Lookiss, presented the artist’s first solo show which featured many of his work since 2004. That exhibition was entitled Unadulterated because it described Clement Ooi’s faithfulness to the original candour of Naïve Art in its spontaneity, independence and innocence.
Now a few months short of his 21st birthday, Clement Ooi continues to make wonderful art. His drawings and paintings of tropical foliage and flowering garden plants achieve an even greater effect of balance, perspective and tone but still with scintillating colour and painstaking brushmarks.
Clement Ooi’s work will be on exhibition from 7 October through 9 November 2009.
